Cordelia Cembrowicz: Golden Valley Molecules series, 2025

Meadow Arts is proud to announce an extraordinary series of three new artworks by artist Cordelia Cembrowicz. The series, titled Golden Valley Molecules, was created through a unique collaboration between the artist and the people of the Golden Valley.

As part of h.Art week, the three artworks in the series, Pontrilas, Kingstone and Peterchurch, are now on display at the G.V. Café & Talk Community Hub in Pontrilas, The Surgery in Kingstone, and The Hub Café in Peterchurch. Across the series, these artworks bring together local faces, stories, and a spirit of connection.

Herefordshire Art Week (h.Art) runs Saturday 6 September until 14 September. It is a nine day art trail open to all. Artists, craftmakers and creative businesses open their private studios everyday from 11am – 5pm. Galleries put on special events, whilst groups get together to put on one-off exhibitions, in a wonderful mix of interesting venues.  

As part of Our Place Golden Valley, a three-year Meadow Arts project, the work has been shaped by local voices, places, and stories. It invites you to celebrate community, connection, and creativity in the Golden Valley. Rooted in collaboration and conversation, the project explores what it means to belong in this beautiful corner of southwest Herefordshire.

Cordelia spent time with residents, volunteers, and staff from community hubs across the valley, capturing portraits and gathering reflections that form the heart of the first commissioned artwork.

These portraits were arranged into patterns based on three “feel-good” hormones our bodies produce when we connect socially and enjoy ourselves: oxytocin, serotonin, and adrenaline. Cordelia’s designs were shared with the public in a series of drop-in workshops, where participants created their own patterns. Ideas from these sessions were incorporated into the final artwork, which can now be seen across the Golden Valley.

Our Place Golden Valley is a Meadow Arts project, part of the Our Place Herefordshire programme funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, with match funding from Herefordshire Council under the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
