HVAN workshops
Over the past several weeks, the Herefordshire Visual Artists Network (HVAN) has organised several engaging workshops for both its members and the public. These events have provided valuable opportunities for local artists to connect, learn, and grow together, fostering a vibrant artistic community in Herefordshire.
On Wednesday, 15 May, artist and HVAN member Rebecca Farkas conducted a workshop on the basics of Instagram for artists. Participants learned how to set up profiles, make photo posts, link to websites, and create videos for Reels. The interactive session encouraged participants to brainstorm ideas and find ways to use Instagram that suited their unique artistic styles, helping them leverage the platform to enhance their visibility and reach.
On Friday, 17 May, artist Lenny Jordan led a workshop where he discussed his artistic practice and visual perception. Following the discussion, participants engaged in a participatory activity that allowed them to explore Lenny’s perception through materiality, such as painting. This hands-on experience provided a deeper understanding of artistic processes and visual expression.
Thanks to funding support from Herefordshire Council via the UKSPF programme, the Herefordshire Visual Artists Network is a network of visual artists working across the county who come together to share news about their practice, ideas for forthcoming projects, network, and update their skills via bespoke CPD training. The network is led by Gemma Moore, a young artist from rural Herefordshire.
