Re-launching the Herefordshire Visual Artists Network
We are very excited to announce that in November, thanks to funding support from Herefordshire Council via the UKSPF programme, we will re-launch the Herefordshire Visual Artists Network.
Herefordshire-based artist Gemma Moore will act as the Network Coordinator for the next 17 months and will be reaching out to other visual artists in the county from 1 November.
Gemma’s practice engages with feminist interests and lines of enquiry that tackle issues that affect women, using abstract painting, sculpture, performance, and photography, amongst other mediums and processes.
Herefordshire is my home county, where I have been able to study art to a high level and also develop many connections over the years with other creatives. I am really passionate about running the Visual Artists Network for a variety of reasons; but first and foremost because for me it feels like an amazing way to further deepen some of those connections and develop a stronger sense of exchange amongst other local artists, who can sometimes feel segregated by the rurality that characterises Herefordshire.
We have received £5,000 for activities between Oct 2023-March 2024 with further funding for work in 2024-25. This is thanks to support from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, which is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
