On Saturday 20 September, families were invited to join Meadow Arts and artist and forest school leader Sarah Boulton, as we walked together in Fishpools in Radnor Forest, sharing moments of play and discovery.

We met along the misty path into Fishpools, children and their parents and guardians walked together as one group, beginning with a single leaf that we passed between us. The simple exchange became a way to think about border life, trading, passing, and translating.

It rained, and one child noticed how the rain seemed to travel with the leaf. Sometimes the children ran ahead and spread out, at other times we moved together along narrow paths.

We found a felled tree and walked along its trunk, which one child described as an inside out corridor. Under a dense canopy, we rested with pine needle and elderberry & rosehip teas.

Emerging from the forest, we reached a bank the children called a magic mountain. One child found a silver leaf, and Sarah shared a story about a silver acorn lost along the border.

The walk moved between play, observation, and sharing, with small discoveries connecting the group to each other and to the forest.
