Deluge to be re-shown in London

2 min read

Deluge (2023) by Hilary Jack, originally commissioned by Meadow Arts for Watermark, has been selected for this year’s edition of Sculpture in the City, an annual sculpture park that uses the urban realm as a rotating gallery space.

Mimicking the relentless scroll of news found in busy urban landmarks such as Times Square or Piccadilly Circus, Deluge comprises two lines of LED text. One line announces local and global flooding events, while the other relays age-old flood narratives and myths from various cultures and distant civilisations.

Deluge will be shown on The Leadenhall Building, aka The Cheesegrater, in London from the end of July 2024.

We are thrilled that this is now the second Meadow Arts commission to be reshown in London this year, with selected works from Creatures of the Mappa Mundi still being shown as part of Yinka Shonibare CBE’s Suspended States exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery (until 1 September 2024).
