Hortus Croomensis Croome x Pershore

Project Insights

Throughout 2024 National Trust Croome and Meadow Arts are collaborating with young people from Pershore to explore the Pages from Nature theme inspired by the landscape and plant collection at Croome.

Hortus Croomensis Croome x Pershore includes the exhibition Small Creatures of Avon Meadows, 20 cast bronzes made by young people from Pershore Riverside Centre with artist duo Juneau Projects in 2022 in response to the landscape and biodiversity of nearby Avon Meadows.

Artist Sarah Taylor Silverwood has been commissioned to co-create new artworks with young people from Pershore Riverside Centre and Pershore High School using drawings, illustration and animation to respond to the landscape at Croome. New works by Sarah Taylor Silverwood will launch at Croome in July to coincide with the National Trust’s Summer of Play.

On 8 August 2024, Sarah will lead a Big Drawing Day at Croome, utilising the same methods and materials used by the young people. Find out more on the National Trust’s website.

Since 2020, Meadow Arts has collaborated with the Pershore community on a diverse range of creative activities. Spanning various public venues within and around the town and Avon Meadows floodplain and community wetland, our work has been both dynamic and multifaceted.

To effectively showcase the breadth of these activities on our website, we partnered with the Year 1 BA Illustration students from Hereford College of Arts to help us visually locate the geographical context of Pershore.

The students came up with some incredible designs in response to the live brief we provided. The illustrations showcase our activities at Pershore High School, Avon Meadows, Pershore Riverside Centre, Pershore Abbey, and Pershore Library. Unsurprisingly the River Avon was also a key feature in many of the designs.

Head to the news section to learn more about the Pershore Mapping Project and to see the beautiful maps that were designed.
