Pershore mapping project in collaboration with students from Hereford College of Arts
Since 2020, Meadow Arts has collaborated with the Pershore community on a diverse range of creative activities. Spanning various public venues within and around the town and Avon Meadows floodplain and community wetland, our work has been both dynamic and multifaceted.
To effectively showcase the breadth of these activities on our website, we partnered with the Year 1 BA Illustration students from Hereford College of Arts to help us visually locate the geographical context of Pershore.
The students have come up with some incredible designs in response to the live brief we provided. The illustrations showcase our activities at Pershore High School, Avon Meadows, Pershore Riverside Centre, Pershore Abbey, and Pershore Library. Unsurprisingly the River Avon was also a key feature in many of the designs.
It was a great experience to work with the HCA Year 1 Illustration students on a live brief. We received 17 unique interpretations of the map and took great pleasure in looking at all the different ways it could be presented. In the end, from a shortlist of 3, we chose the work of Emilie Murray because it felt the ‘best fit’ for Meadow Arts branding and style and the mood for this project. Thank you to everyone who took part, we really appreciate your creative thoughts and time.

This map shows the locations of the Meadow Arts projects in Pershore. It visually communicates that Pershore is a beautiful and interesting place to visit. A town full of art. Road names are not the focus, instead, textures made with ink and charcoal are used to demonstrate a sense of craft and the handmade.
The format of the map is flexible so it can be adjusted to fit the new website. The colour palette and font have been chosen to match the existing branding. This map aims to show that Meadow Arts has had a creative impact on Pershore.
