Plate Up is an exhibition of work developed in 2025 by artist Sarah Taylor Silverwood and young people from Pershore Riverside Youth Centre. It brings together a series of vibrant, ceramic plates and a community cookbook, co-created by the artist and young people, and rooted in the shared processes of cooking, drawing, clay and print.
Through creative workshops and cooking sessions, participants explored how creativity flows through everyday life, celebrating co-design, functional artworks and a sense of ownership over shared spaces. Young people designed and made their own stoneware plates using familiar kitchen tools, sandwiching coloured clays to create unique patterns embedded within the clay itself.
Alongside these works is a new plate series by Sarah Taylor Silverwood. Made for ongoing use in the youth centre kitchen, they will embed the project into the daily rhythms of the centre for years to come.
Plate Up is the second collaboration between Pershore Riverside Centre and Sarah Taylor Silverwood to be presented at NT Croome, following Wild Imagination in 2024. These projects continue a partnership between the youth centre and Meadow Arts, initiated in 2021, with an aim to create meaningful opportunities for young people from Pershore and surrounding villages to experience, make and exhibit contemporary visual art.
Commissioned by Meadow Arts and presented in partnership with National Trust Croome. Funded by Elmley Foundation.
