Layers of Beauty workshop
Layers of Beauty is a fun art lesson, experimenting with collage, to create a 2D Frankenstein picture
A LIVE broadcast, inspired by the Meadow Arts Skin Deep exhibition by artist Oliver Jones, on display at National Trust’s Berrington Hall in 2020.
Join Jamila and Emily, two thirds of the artists collective Elixir Arts. Gather together a few art materials from around the house (there’s a list of materials you could use below), and Elixir Arts will guide you through these simple and fun techniques to create your very own artwork.
Jamila and Emily’s workshop is designed for children aged 8+ and their families. It is inspired by the many ways that are available to us to change our outward appearance, in a playful and engaged way, as we explore and comment on the topic of self image, colourfully and creatively.
Once the characters are created, Emily and Jamila will show you easy ways to create stories with them, through movement and photography.
The session will involve a warm up art activity, main activity and story telling finale, using our characters.
Share your finished creations with us using the hashtag #SkinDeepMeadowArts or e-mail it to us at images@meadowarts.org.
Please share your finished masterpieces with us to be showcased on the Elixir Arts online gallery on ‘Elixir Arts UK’ Facebook page.
Elixir Arts have created a Google Play playlist for this session: you can request the link by emailing the artists at elixirartsuk@gmail.com
