All Alone Creative Retreat – online activity

Objects of Hermitage

Exploring aloneness through walking, making and writing

To accompany the All Alone exhibition at Croft Castle, artist Emily Meredith from Meadow Arts’ creative practitioner network, created some activities to do at home around the theme of aloneness.

Inspired by exhibiting artist …kruse, Emily created a solo retreat day based on the idea of the hermit. Prior to the exhibition …kruse embarked on a week-long silent retreat, becoming deeply engaged with the landscape. Walking alone and unspeaking, she aimed to access the essence of the valley, to connect to and write the stories of the lost, silent and isolated beings at Fishpool Valley. For Emily’s workshop she has suggested you take part in a short meditation activity, and also a walking, making and writing activity to connect with the processes and ideas in …kruse’s exhibition piece un-being.

You can read Emily’s suggested retreat day schedule, listen to the recorded meditation and watch the walking workshop activity below.
