The Hive Commission

Heather and Ivan Morison have been commissioned by Meadow Arts and The Hive to make a site-specific artwork in the grounds of state-of-the-art library building The Hive in Worcester.

Artists know that the best way is ‘just to begin’, and the Morisons have begun work at The Hive.   The Hive was the first library in Europe to house both a university book collection and a public lending library, and the artists will be using this fascinating intersection between academia and civic life to develop a new work for Autumn 2017.  They will be meeting with the staff, students, users and groups that frequent this vibrant and busy library, and will be looking at what the people of Worcester are reading. They will also be opening their process up to the fine art students of University of Worcester, who will follow and participate in this live project, gaining a unique experience and insight into how an artist works.
