A Shrine to Our Precious Things

A Shrine to Our Precious Things

Online collaborative artwork using digital images.

Meadow Arts commission (2015)

A digital artwork inspired by the precious things at Croft Castle & Parkland.

The interior of Croft Castle holds many precious things: each is carefully cared for by curators, staff and volunteers from the National Trust, kept as perfectly as is possible for the benefit of future visitors to this atmospheric stately home.

As Rebecca Farkas collected images of the objects in the castle’s interior for the projection Thereby Hangs a Tale, she began to think about her own possessions and, by extension, those of everyone else she knew and didn’t know.

“We all keep things that mean something special to ourselves. Whether it is a trinket that holds sentimental value, a gift from a sweetheart, a small thing someone made for us once, a nostalgic item from a trip once made, or a treasure that simply reminds us…A Shrine to Our Precious Things invites you to send a photograph and/ or the story of an object you hold dear, to add to an online artwork. The combined images and stories posted on the website will become a digital artwork that we have all contributed to.”Email your image and/or story to precious.shrine@gmail.comTwitter @OurShrine    ourpreciousthings.wordpress.com
