Gilded Head

Ravinder Reddy

Gilded Head

This artwork featured in Shakti (2013).

One of India’s most celebrated contemporary artists, Ravinder Reddy fuses the sculptural tradition with a contemporary pop sensibility. Gilded Head refers to the western perception of an exotic India. Its heraldic presence, in this context, reinforces the opulence of Kedleston and refers to the luxuriance of a certain strand of Indian arts and crafts.
